I was wondering through my local woolworths yesterday, and saw the prices of some DS games, when i noticed the rpices, which compared to US DS Games, i thought were a bit high. So i thought id draw up a little comparision chart, comparing GB Prices (ex. VAT, for accuracy of comparision) to US Prices. US Prices taken from gamestop.com GB prices taken from Game.net Exchange rate taken from xe.com lets see what we have then - i compared 1/2 of the UK launch games to their US counterparts. As I dont think i can do a table in this message, i have attached the excel spreadsheet, and heres a summary: Warioware touched - GBP ex. VAT: £24.74 USD: $34.99 % difference: 26.58% Spiderman 2 GBP ex. VAT: £28.87 USD: $39.99 % difference: 28.08% Mario 64 DS GBP ex. VAT:24.74 USD:29.99 % difference: 37.07% And finally, from all i compared the only one to be cheaper Polarium GBP ex. VAT: 16.49 USD: 34.99 %difference:-10.15% Average price difference from spreadsheet: 25.95% more. Not sure what i hope to achieve, but its just been annoying me that i can get a game sent over from hong kong (lik-sang w/ free delivery)or from Canada (videogamesplus.ca) for cheaper than i can buy it in the UK! Anyways, rant over, and im happy now...
What do you expect? It's the UK. The biggest rip off hole in the world as far as games are concernd Poor UK gamers always get a shite deal. Yakumo
At least you have official support from the companies. Down here, a DS console cost between 800 - 900 Reais ( 296 - 333 dollars ), and each game cost 200 Reais (74 dollars). The PSP goes even higher, with prices starting at 1.250 Reais (460 dollars)
Not just the UK, but all of Europe. Ooooh, let's go to town and spent 67.99e on PS2 Fifa 2005! :smt067 :smt067 :smt067 I refuse to be ass-raped any more so all my subsequent next-gen buys will be most likely from the US, I'm very happy with my US PS2 with the cheaper games. :fu SCEE
68 Euro?!? OMG, and I thought it was bad here! Yeah, we do too! But at least our road signs are all metric! Well they've only been fully metric since January - for about 20 years distances have been in kilometres, and only this year have speeds changed to km/h. Makes sense...
I will laugh when the USD becomes stronger and you are all stuck with your not so cheap US importing ways.
Japan, Hong Kong, Australia and I think Singapore too drive on the "Wrong side" too which is cool for me since it's the same as the UK Yakumo
hmmmm the danish price for a DS is 1300 kroner (121.97 pounds sterling) and 174.59 euro (yes we danes does still have our currency because we voted no to the euro.
