Hi All, I am new to this and this is my first blog on here, so apologise if this is in the wrong area as I don't know where to start! I am looking for the names/make of 2 game consoles that my dad bought in Korea in teh late '80's butI cannot find them on the www? The first one was a split screen game (I think tha is whatyou call it?) that conatined monsters cahsing you and you had too eat all the monkey nuts. It had differnet game levels obviously! This was cream in colour. The sceond game was a book style game with a hard copy that opens to reveal a screen and it was Jack and teh beanstalk (if I remembr correctly!) this was pale grren in colour. Can anyone help or recognise any of the above? Many thanks.
The second one sounds like a version - perhaps licensed to some Korean entity, as is the case for a lot of Korean gaming of that era - of the Epoch Jack and the BeanStalk game - http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Epoch/Jack.htm No idea re the first.
Was one of your 80's gaming machines happen to be a daewoo electronics console? It plays MSX & MSX2 games on your TV screen
taaudi, it defintiely sounds like you might be thinking of games released on the Daewoo Zemmix. Do any of these look like the consoles you had? http://usamsx.com/slideshow/images/MSX-Binder-Daewoo-Ze#30AC30.jpg http://usamsx.com/slideshow/images/MSX-Binder-Daewoo-Ze#30AC09.jpg http://usamsx.com/slideshow/images/MSX-Binder-Daewoo-Ze#30AC4E.jpg http://usamsx.com/slideshow/images/MSX-Binder-Daewoo-Ze#30FF5E.jpg - (Probably not the bottom red one, lol, as that is the Zemmix Neo created last year by a Korean MSX/Zemmix enthusiast named mygodess, based on the 1-Chip MSX. You can find that mygodess is a pretty active community member at the MSX Resource Center and he might be able to help you identify the games if you post descriptions and screenshots in a thread there if you definitely remember these games being released on a Zemmix / MSX. -Thomas
When he said book style and bluish green, I immediately thought of the Samsung Pico. However I've never seen a Korean Jack and the Beanstalk game and from his description it seems the screen was "on" the game? For the other, it definitely sounds like a Zemmix
