Hey fellas, Just dug this out of my collection, was told it was rare a long time ago although im no expert and thought i would ask the audience! http://img98.imageshack.us/i/picture152z.jpg/ Its called The Original Mario Bros. Arcade classics series. Any info on this cart would be apreciated, rarity, value etc etc. Thanks!
As cyntist said, it's the original arcade classic that is also featured on all the GBA mario games for multiplayer purposes. I never saw the cart, probably because it's an US one, but I infer that "classic series" just means rerelease. As it's also missing the box and instructions, I wouldn't expect too much.
You can find loose copies for 5-10 USD on ebay.com. According to Nintendo's release list (http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/gameslist/gamelist.jsp?lm=classic) it came out in 1986 (half a year after Super Mario Bros.), hence the "classics" in the title.
yeah just found them on ebay myself, the classic series brought up the results. Thanks for teh info guys will put it back in teh box it came from!
It's not a rerelease. It's just like how some carts say "Action Series" or something. It's meaningless really.
Ah, alright. Because the PAL-version does not have any "classic series" imprinted except for the Nintendo Classics rerelease (the circle-shaped golden Mario head).
I wouldn't say rare. They show up often in the $5 dollar bin at my local indie game store. And they usually know what's rare.
Spam to get into the marketplace? Digging up an old thread just to repeatedly state what others already said years ago is not exactly what one would call 'valuable contribution'
Didn't this game come out long before super Mario bros on the famicom? Seems weird that they would not make it an nes launch title.
Mario Bros came out in September 1983 and was the 6th Famicom game, released 7 weeks after the hardware launch. It's was a contemporary port of the 1983 arcade game!
Kev says he does make a note of blatant spam in an attempt to get in, don't worry. However, they have to have been a member for a certain amount of time, too. I think it's three months.
