Hi all! recently I bought some Pippin consoles. While messing around with them and looking what's inside, I noticed that one console is different from the others: This console has the model number PA-82001-S while the others have PA-82001. Inside the casing there is golden foil everywhere on the shielding, the other consoles have no foil at all. Front ODD ODD back Audio connectors from the inside And I was pleasantly surprised to find a Pre-Release / Monitor ROM: According to the available sources the Monitor ROM was limited to 500 pieces and had to be sent back to Apple. Well, the serial Number is 0001276, so there must have been more than 500 ROMs... I've tried to find anything about this console variant on the internet - no luck. Maybe this is some kind of pre-release / preview console?
An interesting bit of kit you have. Sadly I can't shed any light on to it but I'm sure if anyone can it will be a member here. Yakumo
The cooper foil tape usually is used, when you go to the EMC accreditation with your devices, to test which HF-connections are the best and most effective to fulfill the RF emission law. seems to be kinda a test device therefore.
Rare Pippin Rosewood, you have a RARE copy of a console that already, by itself is RARE. Only I think 22k Pippins were produced.
