I'm not sure who has seen this but there is a campaign to get Rage Against The machine's Killing in the Name to the Xmas number one over the X factor - LINK

I quite like the idea of hopefully not having one of the contestants from that show at number 1 and it actually being Rage Against The machine even though i don't listen to them much just because i hate the X Factor and the fact that you just know one of them from that show will be at number 1 come Christmas.

Much as I'd like a dirty jackin' House tune as Xmas No.1, that's not gonna happen. RATM rock and I'd rather have those talented guys at number 1 than some X Factor shite. One of the very few bands I'd like to see live.

Is this a ploy to make idiots stuff money in their pockets or are they donating proceedings to charity?

Don't like RATM much, much better when de la rocha was in Inside Out - some quality hardcore. Damn those Hare Krishna!

Yeah, there's definitely no chance this is all dreamed up by anyone who would stand to benefit financially if more people buy the RATM song. I mean, it's not like people are easily manipulated is it?..

As has been discussed on another site. RATM are signed to Epic, which is a label owned by Sony BMG.

"...if you really want to rage against the Simon Cowell machine, 'Killing In The Name' is a bizarre song to pick, since it's a Sony BMG catalogue track – just like 'Hallelujah', 'Don't Stop Believin', and all those other tunes which mysteriously crop up on The X Factor time and again.

In case you're unaware of the corporate link, Sony BMG have exclusive rights to Simon Cowell's artists. His own label, Syco, is owned by Sony. He's hardly likely to be soiling his high-waisted trousers over the prospect of a few thousand extra download sales of 'Killing In The Name'. He's probably got shares in the company...

Please, RATM is already pathetic as it is...

Take the vocalist de la Rocha for example, he is the perfect sample of idiotic rebellion against a country were he is actually free to rebel against. Had his father stayed in mexico he would've been shot years ago in some rally.

The guy supports the zapatistas, which in themselves are a moronic vicious circle: the current mexican oligachy is made mostly of the descendants of those who leaded the mexican revolution almost 100 years ago. Instead of destroying the post-colonialist oligarchy of the time they replaced it, just like castro replaced batista as dictator of cuba.

Now the zapatistas want to "overthrow" this oligarchy. Is anyone guess what will happen, but IMO if they actually do it I say you'll see commander marcos cruising around DF in a brand new CTS.

Back to de la rocha, he's just pissed because he whished he was black, and because his daddy got in love with jebus and dumped him.

Now we're gonna help him and his corporate buddies make more money? ¬_¬
