Does anybody know what OS that most Raw Thrills games ran on? Sometimes most racers ran on Windows while shooters and other games uses Linux. I just want you guys know because Raw Thrills and Global VR aren't listed in System16 website because the hardware on these two arcade companies uses a stock Dell PC which was cheaper to produce.
I'm fairly certain Global VR used Windows, because I remember seeing a machine with a Windows-style window at the top of the screen. I'm not sure about Raw Thrills.
Will Global VR and Raw Thrills games be used on a home Windows PC like Konami (Silent Hill: The Arcade) and Taito Type X? Why can't System16.com website add Raw Thrills and Global VR?
Alien Extermination uses Windows xp embedded ( i have the restore discs at work) iirc Fast & Furious - Superbikes also uses windows (i need to check the discs to confirm)
Dans, will the restore discs work on your PC or it will come up as Unknown Data? The Dell Form Factor is actually modified so that it'll provide some security tools to prevent bootleggers from getting it running on a domestic PC. I haven't confirmed that it was the dongle or the Form Factor itself. At least someone got Big Buck Hunter got it running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npg8ge2XaIo
The restore CD for The Fast and Furious boots on any PC (It's FreeDOS based), but the OS only has drivers to support the original hardware configuration. The game uses XP Embedded.
i tried the Alien Extermination restore discs in virtuabox i get it to http://youtu.be/57ZkueJ_tuo and from there it just hangs/ doesnt do anything else
Probably the software (the disc itself) complains itself that it might needed an I/O board to continue the process. How did Jackulus passed the I/O checks with Paradise Lost where he has an ability to use the mouse without an actual lightgun controller.
thats only installing the first disc (os restore) i think the windows embedded used has some kinda protection in it or something
This and Raw Thrills ones have higher security than Taito Type X and Konami's. Global VR has a special ability to save your high scores into the USB flash drive and some data stored from the keypad saves. So which assume that Global VR and Raw Thrills used a modified Windows Embedded while Taito and Konami used a vanilla Windows Embedded OS. Any way to get this running from regular PC by just taking the hard drive from the cabinet and put it onto the domestic PC so that we can dump the contents of the game itself?
the game install disc i have checks to see if it is installing on embedded (i tried the disc on an xp sp3 vm and it failed to install) with abit of work id assume you can work around that slight off-topic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IIwe0PvgPU http://www.bhmvending.com/Amusements/ICE/ice_deal_or_no_deal.html
This thread is dangerously close to being closed. It's obvious that the OP's goal is to just pirate these games.
To be fair, I'm always interested to see what OS arcade manufacturers use. But yeah, I generally don't give a monkeys about the anti-piracy measures.
I know some of the manuals for the games like Terminator Salvation gave you the model number of the dell pc they used. Just look under the parts list.
For both companies, why couldn't name their hardware like the Raw X or GVR Graphite or something? Are they lazy to come up with the better names or something?
Hey guys...i'm new around and i enjoy pretty much the arcade machines. I want to ask you, if by any chance, you guys can upload the iso of the recovery disk of alien extermination...i own that machine, but, i don't have it, and the machine is giving me some file error, so, i need to re-install. It would be so much appreciated.
