As per the suggestion of my doctors and now optician I'm after a set of sunglasses mainly for indoor use. I figured the Aviator would make a good choice as it was desgined to block as a much light from as many angles as was reasonably possible as well as the Top Gun look, but my optician does not stock them and if I was to get sunglasses on prescription they wouldn't have the style or the extreme blocking properties.

I quite like the idea of a titanium frame though and when combined with polarised lenses (which are a must), the RRP basically doubles upto £188 -_-

I've never bought glasses online, I don't even wear sunglasses normally and when I have worn glasses I chewed them to destruction and subsequently lost them. Apparently they come in at least 2 sizes but figuring out which size fits can wait for now though. Has anyone bought sunglasses online from a trustworthy site and could they reccomend one? Googling for them pulls up a ridiculous number of sites, many of which are probably scammy. I'm UK based so for simplicity £GBP FTW, but if there was any significant savings to be had from buying overseas I'd be able to wait na extra week for them, but with budget restraints at the minute I wouldn't be able to afford for them to get lost.

I think the exact model I like is Ray-Ban Sunglasses, RB8041 Aviator Titanium Polarised 086/M3 if that means anything to anyone. I'm not interested in fakes or clones either :p

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance ;)

I have a prescription pair with polarization for driving. Amazing frames and amazing
with the polarization, I can see all water clear as glass.

I can call my optician for you tomorrow and inquire.

Ooh I was actually just reading about getting normal prescription Aviators with the Polarizing and that fading tint trick. They don't do them in titanium but at least a nice black frame with grey lenses (in tint mode). Out of interest do yours have the magic tint stuff and if so, what is it like indoors with standard flourescent strip lighting ie does the tint kick in or not bother as it can tell you are indoors? If the tint didn't work indoors I'd have to go with regular sunglasses... my prescription isn't too strong anyway ;) Thanks in advance though!

There was a very good article in the NY Times recently about a company that thrived on bad feedback to shoot to the top of google page rankings

I saw their website but the only have 1 page for Aviator glasses, but a zillion different styles to scroll across. They do not have a description of the specifications, but they do put some form of product code with each image which you have to decrypt yourself one at a time. Given as there are a load of Aviators on the one page it would take a while!

EDIT: Hmm http://www.sunglasshut.co.uk/brands?task=product&id=1114 looks about right maybe but the code is different to the above. IMay wait for Assembler prescription lenses though could work out cheaper and correct my vision too ;)
