    Hey guys,

If you receive a PM about 'game testing' from any user named below, be aware this is a spambot, which may have been sent to all users on the forums.

    Message Quote:

Of course do NOT click any links included in the body of the message, and just delete it.

I have banned the user from the forums as soon as I received the PM, so you shouldn't get any more. So please do not send any more reports on the matter as the user has now been banned.

    [EDIT by retro]

If you received PMs from the following spambots, they've already been banned. Please just delete the PMs.

    BANNED SPAMBOTS
    bobbart
    bongloader
    coldev
    cubilla

It's possible that the link may be able to compromise your account - as HEX1GON said, DO NOT CLICK THE LINK!

Please check this thread before reporting a PM. If the user's name isn't in the above list (or someone hasn't reported it below), list it below. You may then report the PM.

I got a PM from bongloader too. I was like "eh? I have a friend? someone actually wants to talk to me?!", and then realized it was a spambot... I cried a little.

I got a private message from coldev too which is also spamming. You can block that user as well.

Merged my thread into this one, as we cross-posted.

I have banned coldev and cubilla.

It's possible the link is compromising accounts, so PLEASE don't click the link!

Just for shits, I looked the link I received up on google and it seems to be on other forums. These include Shadowera, Yojoe, and another one that I forget the name of.

EDIT: Checked the site on my New 3DS XL's web browser just to see if it was dangerous and it seems to be possibly some fake way of earning money by playing games. Its safe... to an extent... Haven't tried PC, Mac, Android, or iOS yet. I'm specifically eyeing what happens on a PC or Android but I might do that on a VM or something.

Well I could see if it downloads any viruses and things. Fortunately, Malwarebytes has me covered.

If it's a custom script it won't be detected. So stop doing stupid things.

I was just being a sacrificial goat thats all. And it might be because of script. I'm not sure. There may be different results on a PC or something.

Well, nothing here. I feel unwanted. I mean, they don't want me to be a game tester? How rude. Okay, sure, it'll be Flappy Bird 100000, but it's still a game, dammit. LEAVE FLAPPY BIRD ALONE.
Actually please do, because it sucks.
We really need a better spoiler hider thingy. I don't want to say "spoiler tags", because that's more so the code that you write. But whatever, you get the idea.

I think his point is that sometimes those links, like some of the ones sent in spam emails, cause more harm than good e.g. telling the spammer (usually an automated system, granted) that the account/email is valid, therefore making you a prime target for even more. That's why, unfortunately, a lot of spam email is usually better off blocked than trying to click the "Unsubscribe" links in them. They normally won't unsubscribe you from those emails, and you'll suddenly get more spam out of nowhere.

The only truly safe way to try out those links is to use Internet Explorer.

Okay, I'm joking. Please don't click on them, ESPECIALLY with Internet Explorer (at least, anything less than #11).

EDIT: Never mind, apparently the one PM I didn't get an email for was the PM from bongloader. Dude's name is obnoxious. I get it, you're a hippie, but why are you involving yourself with corporate stuff, then? Hypocrite much?
