I the last year or so i have started getting some NES games. I'm more of a SEGA guy at heart but love the NES. Anyway i found this copy of Flintstones Surprise At Dinosaur Peak. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Flintston...2810?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item3389adfb8a To me it looks fake but i don't no. What do you guys think
It's a reproduction, the too-short label is a giveaway: http://www.snkcollectors.com/?_esca...he-flinstones---the-surprise-at-dinosaur-peak Real PAL game-pak looks like this:
The PCB will have Mask ROMs and a MMC3 chip. If you see any chips with bent pins/wires, UV windows, etc then it's a bootleg. The item linked to is obviously a fake label because of the wrong size/fit. Given that it's an expensive title, it's wise to assume the PCB is not original and thus the cartridge is virtually worthless. In rare cases people do make a new label to replace a badly damaged one. But if you are selling an expensive game and have done so, you'd mention it in the sale. Label quality is usually the best sign of a bootleg. Few if any actually produce and attach a label to the standards of legit games. Usually the size is off, the color is off, the image in some way is slightly different in size, the corners of the label are not rounded, etc. But once you have a cartridge in hand, the easiest and final word on if it's legit is as easy as opening it and looking for the Mask ROM chips. If you find anything but those, you have a bootleg.
