    Hi guys,
I don't know if many 360 die-hard faceplates collectors are aware (or still alive) of that but Microsoft once released some exclusive faceplates for the French 2005 launch.
They were sold at Colette http://en.colette.fr/?SID=3fd79da9b2e442e482f34d1e25b41a1b&___store=en
Some were reproducing Karl Lagerfeld's pictures (Chanel designer).
Some were done by Daft Punk's producer Pedro Winter.
And some were made by Christophle, French silversmith,http://www.christofle.com/us_en/?lang=us_en

    There were additional artists.

All came in very limited numbers, 5 max of each, and were sold at a huge price...

Barely none of them sold and people thought they were destroyed or sent back to Microsoft HQ.
    But one finally resurfaced:

Kinda disappointing its looks like its just a sheet of silver placed on top of the faceplate, would have looked way cooler if they just made the whole faceplate out of silver or something.

Totally right:). Looks more like a tooth crown than an actual crown. I remember the other ones having the same issue. It was plastic film a/o swaroski fake diamonds glued onto a regular faceplate...

Pretty interesting ! Colette always have some specific game related stuffs. They were also supposed to sell the Anniversary PS4.

But paying this amount for just a faceplate is crazy ! And this faceplate mount on an plastic xbox unit is probably not that beautiful.

    (P.S. : PM Sent Roubignolo).

2000 is indeed way too much. A
Well, not my type of faceplace, even not my type of Art in general. But if these where sold for Charity, then this can be good, as there is always some rich people to buy such things.

I just wonder how Lagerfeld end up working in a such project, as I can't see him doing video game related things haha.

Back in 2005 in France, Microsoft was suffering from a lack of general awareness versus Sony and Nintendo. I remember reading some local execs' interviews about this collection and their hope to reach mainstream. Not sure the €2000 silver idea worked the way they thought it would...

I imagine that the Colette shop organized everything as they're used to sell limited collection items designed by famous guys.

looking to reach mainstream rich people can indeed be a good choice to attract buyer, Apple knows a lot about this.

I didn't know that Microsoft was suffuring from this lack.
