Realization about why I enjoyed older systems

I've recently decided to go back to the Genesis and SNES and play through all the games I ever wanted to and couldn't afford when I was young. I have hd more enjoyment out of these than any new gen stuff I have played in the last few years.

 

Kind of late to chime in, but for me, it's b/c the games are better. Why? They require imagination. An electronics shop in Shibuya is shutting down and I had about 5000 yen in points to use, so I got two Wii clearance games. Nights & Wario's Shakey thingy (2000 & 3000 respectively).

That was a week ago. Popped in Nights just now. Ughh... since I don't use the Wiimote, the gameplay isn't bad although the graphics look like shit considering the hardware, but the story is spoon fed to you in the form of horrible dialogue. I miss "the magic" where you could pop the game in and start playing. Now there's just layer on top of layer of bullshit.

Arcade games don't feature this...even now, which is where 90% of my gaming time & budget goes.

 

I dont like the recent crop of consoles near as much as something like the n64 the last real console was ps2 now they are just becoming to much like computers well the bad parts of a computer.
why the hell do i have to install some games first or update that is bullshit and takes an annoying amount of time.
I like some games on pc but I hate pc gaming and they are giving me no choice coz all the consoles are slowly morphing into computers albeit with less controll soon they will all have keyboards so everyone can twitter and facebook and all that shit that has nothing to do with gaming.
The 360 is the worst "console" out on the market I have had 3 die on me 2 were brand new and one was refurbished and I was flat out playing it once or twice a week and that is the new consoles for you.
Give me and older system anyday so i don't have to download the rest of the games I pay good dollars of xbox live and didn't need to go online to get the most out of the games no dlc that should have been in the final game not held back to make money for slack developers.
Whew that felt good.

 

I think the way 360 handles updates is fantastic. Never taken more than 20 seconds..
