Hi, I recently changed the rechargeable battery inside my Dreamcast for a socket and a new ML2032. I also installed a flashable bios chip piggy-backed on top of the ROM chip.

I then tried to boot up the DC(using the bios on the original ROM) and now the console stays on the Dreamcast boot logo for a really long time, then it goes straight to the dashboard even if there is a disc in the dreamcast.

Naturally I checked the battery, it does charge and retain time. I then removed the flash chip I installed and I still get the same problem.

When there is a disc, it spins at boot and the laser is powered. It's just like there wasn't any communication between the system, and the GD-rom drive. The console knows it's connected because if I boot it without a drive, once I get to the dashboard I get a pop up message saying the disc is beeing read. It still takes a really long time before the Dreamcast boot logo dissapear to make place for the dashboard.

Anyone out there knows what's the problem?

sounds like a short or some damage around the flash chip area.

I had one that acted like this when there was debris between pins of the near by ram chip.

Just give everything nearby a good check and brush with a toothbrush to remove anything.

Thanks for the advice, I checked carefully and double cleaned everything but I can't find any shorts or damage to the motherboard... Every chip pins are isolated from one another. I hope the MX chips I bought weren't fake and destroyed my DC... How can I program those chips without the DC? Where can I find the schematic to program that chip? Thanks
