    Probably a Video CD adapter.

Probably, but never seen one like that.

Half tempted, but its a lot of money for a PS1 if the adapter turns out useless/common/uninteresting

No details on what's refurbished though :/ most likely power and CD Kit? Remember being offered one of these when I took my PSone back.

Ah I've dealt with this guy before- that's NOT a parallel port adapter, and I've told him the details of exactly what it is.
I think there's a thread somewhere around here on it.
Basically a custom controller interface for bulk system testing or similar- connect it to pc/other output, and run the psx through games or testbed automatically.
I've got a flickr set with photos of it inside and out- I'll see if i can find it once i get off the train later today.
My guess is that disc MAY be the PSX side of the test tools.
The company that made the interface box appears to be/have been an official PSX refurb outsourcer or similar.

EDIT: here's the thread I made a while back:
    http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...Infoteam-International-PSX-Console-Controller

This guy has had a history of bundling crap he doesn't know if it goes together or not...
For a while he was bundling green debugs with yaroze discs even.

I remember being offered a refurb ps1 from Sony back in 1998 after my spindle fell apart. The console came in the exact same red plastic bag.

Yeah, looks like some form of test equipment. It could probably also be used for putting a psx in something like an arcade cabinet. I don't think the disc is specifically for testing consoles, but I guess it could be used for that.
