Hey everyone. I used to be a big sega fanboy back in the day. Only really discovered Sega with the dreamcast (despite having a Master System during elementary school), but oh boy. Afterwards I got a Saturn with some very cool games, a Mega Drive with Shinobi 3 and all Sonics for it (not 3d or puzzle versions). After Sony won with the ps2 over the dreamcast, I was still a gamer. But it was hard to get as enthousiastic about it as it used to be. The fact that Sony lied to create PS2 hype, first generation ps2 games looked worse then Dreamcast games and that since the launch of the ps2 it took a year and a half for the first truly good game. Of course the PS2 is now a good console with great classic games and better graphics, but none of that was true while the DC was a contender and the DC lost unfairly during that IMHO. I still played games like Mass Effect or Assassins Creed on PC. I even bought a Wii, but I never was quite as enthousiastic about gaming as when I counted the days till I could get Shenmue 2. After a while I dusted off my Dreamcast but I found out about random reboot problems... right in the middle of Head Hunter. After a while I found a video on youtube, explaining how to take it open, take off the power adaptor and clean the connection pins to stop it. Woah, I actually opened a console, looked at its guts and I made it better.... After getting quite excited about gaming again for the first time since Ikaruga I began looking further. Since then I found some videos of PAL Mega Drives/Genesis and Saturns with a 50/60hz switch. I had some japanese imports for my PAL saturn and thought of getting a japanese Saturn to play them at true speed, but this would be much cheaper. Haven't done it yet, but it got me searching for other modding, till.... I found out I CAN BUILD AN ARCADE STICK WITH GENUINE PARTS USING AN CONTROLLER PCB!!!!!!!!!. This was quite the discovery for me. Since I haven't been a 100% gamer since 2002, this whole trend went past me. So wjen I talked about this true revelation to me to other friends they responded with "Oh yeah, it's a common project.". Do'h, I was still feeling like MacGyver. But I have a lot more questions on all of this, specifically on how to be sure you alter/solder onto PCB's and make sure everything is electronically ok. I did a lot of research online since I found out that it was possible for people like me to make 100% authentic arcade sticks for my loved console games. I long thought I was over gaming since I gotten older, but fuck it. IM BACK!
