Hello folks, I've got an idea for a wiki style website, however I have no idea what software to use. A few minutes of googling revealed this wiki comparison site:

    http://www.wikimatrix.org/

But I have no idea what I'm looking at. Anyone have any experience in using wiki software? Any reccomendations? Whatever I get, since I'm new at this I would prefer something with a large user community for the inevitible multiple questions I'll have.

I'd say mediawiki, just becasue it's the most popular, wikipedia uses it, so everyone knows how it works, etc.

I personally use MediaWiki because It's most popular, easy to use and most people know what to do when they see it.
Don't know about other Wikis but the Setup is easy and fast aswell.

I'm having some issues installing MediaWiki. On the previous server I used to host my site there weren't emough privileges so I changed my server but there was a huge problem and they had to start a new hosting service with a new server from scratch, and still it needs some fixes in order to get the wiki working.
Anyway, I searched for similar apps and I found out that MediaWiki is the best one available, you should use it.
