SO I ended up nuking my old install of retropie so I could try Lakka.

    LAKKA SUCKS
I tried Recalbox, I can't get roms on the thing
Went back to Retropie, roms on the newest build have this werid sound issue where a rom starts very quiet then rapidly raises the volume.

I need something more substantial so I'm going to buy an old office pc, slap a decent GPU in it and a front end and call it a day.

This PC is an i5 with 16gb of ram and any rom I tossed at it that works in MAME ran fine on this system.
I Couldn't get supermodel working so I have no baseline for model 3.

what would the minimum specs you all recommenced for a PC used just for Emulation. I'll be using it for MAME mostly and up to PS2 since I don't have a working one and can't be bothered to buy a new one.

I think PS2 is the most resource intensive. It still needs quite a powerful PC.
My Suggestion is simply buy a Ryzen 2400G.
The processor has a built in GPU that is more than enough for emulation.
The only main problem is that DDR4 RAM prices are still quite high.

That's what I was thinking. A Ryzen, some good ram and I'll be good to go with anything I want.

The new Lattepandas are coming and they have promising CPUs
