So I just picked up a 360 from a friend for a pretty ridiculous deal, but now i've realized why I didn't get one before. There's really no games that are jumping out at me to get. Mostly shooters that are the same run of the mill as on the xbox only "prettier". I do plan on getting dead rising, and fear since the pc version kills my computer. Are there any other adventure games you all would recommend to get; i'm not really into rpg's but I really enjoyed shadow of the colossus so games like that i'm cool with. Oh, and preferabley some that won't break the bank, tho its hard to do as the cheapest games i've seen are ~$25 but most of them are crap. thanks!

Umm..Tomb Raider Legend is fairly good, if you want an rpg on the cheap there is always Enchanted Arms, PGR3 is an amazing game for 25 bucks, as is Kameo

Prey (found the collectors edition for $30) is a fairly unique shooter, but is fairly straight forward and kinda repetitive, Test Drive Unlimited is good for an online racer

LOTR BFME 2 is great for a console RTS

If you have the xbox live vision camera, i highly suggest downloading TotemBall, its free, and quite fun

Burnout Revenge for the 360 is the definitive Burnout game, and is my favorite arcade racer of all time.
Kameo is a passable Zelda style game, that's nice to pop in when you want to see lots of particle effects or a ton of enemies on screen.
Enchanted Arms is a decent RPG.
Also, if you missed out on the Xbox, check the backwards compatability list, and grab anything that catches your eye. Games like Ninja Gaiden Black still look better than a lot of 360 games.
But really what you want to do is make a free Xbox Silver account, and download the demos to everything, and just buy what you like.

    Dead Rising
    Kameo
    PGR3
    Ridge Racer 6
    CoD2
    Geometry Wars

You could probably find Oblivion cheap too. I wouldn't bother with Fear, it's mediocre IMO.

thanks guys, i've been downloading demos non-stop after i rigged up the 360 through my computer (damn wireless). I actually got pgr3 with it when i bought it, very enjoyable; i had 1 and 2 for the original as well. The CoD2 demo was pretty cool too, will have to pick it up next time i go out; as well as a camera.

CoD2 is good for single player and multi-player. CoD3 isn't so good, and costs more!

I actually only want to play Dead Rising. Is it coming out for the PC? Also, I have been trying to price the true start-up cost for a xbox360. What will it run me?

Dead Rising won't go to PC, I'm pretty sure. To get a full 360 is uhhh, I dunno what you mean? The system is 400$ and comes with a bunch of crap.

    Preminum XB360 = $400
Extra wireless controller (if you have friends) = $50 (wired = $40)
    1 or 2 games (I'm guessing you'll want at least 2 to begin with) = $40-$60 each

Rough estimate if you buy all this stuff new: $550

You could of course cut this down with store discount offers and buying things used, or not buying an extra controller.

What is the differecen between the Premium xbox 360 and the non-premium? Also whats the prices for the hd-dvd drive and the different size HD's? Can I put any HD in or do I need to buy one from MS?

You could do what I did and get a premium for $200 with an extra wireless controller and PGR3, Madden '07, Perfect Dark, and Halo from a dumb friend, but those instances are few and far between, really the main reason I jumped on it, lol.

If you're going to get one go for the premium b/c if you go for the core just to save games you'll need a memory card (30-40$) or you could buy the hard drive add on for 100 which is already the price of the premium and you don't get a wireless controller and the pretty chrome drive face.

You have to buy a hard drive from microsoft (can't roll your own) and it only comes in the 20 gig size; the hd-drive retails for $200 but i have seen some deals as low as $170

Overall i'm pleased; found a lot of games already i want to buy through demos but i think time to play them is going to be a factor.

The Xbox 360 20GB HardDisk is 99$. The Core 360 System costs 299$, the premium costs 399$. Thus you buy the Core and a HDD, you might as well have bought the Premium that comes with headset, wireless controller, hd component cable, etc.

(edit: I read that wrong, I thought you were refering to the hard disk and not the HD-DVD drive, whoops)

Try out all the demos. I'd recommend trying Rainbow Six Vegas if you like a rather tactical team oriented shooter. Also I have to recommend Gears of War. Crackdown, you should try the demo for that. Though I would have to advise the game is short.

The HD-DVD drive is $200, they still sell them but not everywhere (my local EBgames has 2). You have to use the official microsoft HDD, prices already stated before this post ;-)

Edit - The HD-DVD drive also works with the PC and MAC apparently!
