Hello, I've got a Dreamcast Dev kit which I've had for some time now and I thought I'd have a look on the hard drive finally. Unfortunately the drive was in a bad way and locked up with "An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\D during a paging operation." and "The device, \Device\Scsi\asc4, did not respond within the timeout period." As the drive looked unstable I started copying off the data I found on the drive but before I could finish the system locked up and needed a reboot to get it going again.

Once the system was up again the DevBox drive had lost its file system sadly, it’s oddly a lot more stable now and I've been trying to recover the data from the drive with various apps that I didn’t finish backing up. I have now found what I think is a good recovery tool and it can see a lot of files on the disk but it hasn’t got any info on the file extensions such as "filename.SHP" I've listed some of the extensions on files that I did get backed up but has anyone got info on these file type such as the signature and offset so I can add them to my backup application?

    .SHP
    .HCD
    .VDS
    .fm8

    Thanks
    Nick

Looks like incomplete GDWorkshop project files (An application in the Katana SDK used for burning Dreamcast GD-R discs, or running projects off the HD). You'll need a .cpj file to open this project.

Here's a thread of mine where I tried to recover data from a SCSI hard disk.

Send me a PM so I can know where to send you the application I used. ;)
