    Hey,

Well I had my journalist friend send me over the latest recovery disc he installed - successfully - the other day.

So I burnt myself the disc and plonked it in my dev unit (with the Hard drive off so it wouldn't wipe it).

All screens popped up as expected and then I told it to keep the dev dashboard (pressed A and not Y).

Restarted my dev kit and it no longer boots up properly! :-( :crying:

The orange light on the stress test kit is lighting up, but there's no sound of the Xbox logo appearing or anything. :dammit:

Is there any way of FTP'ing in and restoring the DevKit back to what it was before?

Any and all serious advice and help would be reallllly appreciated right now! [IMG]

Put another recovery in. If your xam is intact it should boot up. Also this isn't the killswitch recovery as the menu's wouldn't have popped up. If this does not work hope to god you have a backup of your nand. What recovery was sent to you?

I'm not getting any menus to appear, not even with the disc and the hard drive attached.

I wouldn't know how to back up my nand, so that'd be a no right there.

Any other suggestions if I can't get any menus to appear? Can I ftp into the Hard Drive via the SDK and do anything that way?

Actually, it was 9328.9 (not .5), I thought he mentioned that wrong when he said .9 earlier on the phone.

*edit* Thinking about it, if I skipped 9328.5 and jumped straight to 9328.9, would that have caused it to fuck up? Should I have upgraded to .5 then to .9?

If it was 9328.9, there's a chance he fucked you over and sent you the kit bricker. I doubt it was the kit bricker however, since the you said the screens popped up as normal.

Skipping doesn't matter. Unplug your Power cord for 2 mins plug it back in to tell me if you got power if not you may be in bad shape. Are you positive you got the Press A menu's and everything and got the title bar to finish 100%?

I got every menu including the last one that asks you to reboot the machine (after the disc tray pops open).

The orange light inside the stress test kit is flashing orange and I get the green lights circling on the main button and it's picking up the pad and the first green segment is coming on. But nothing else...

    *edit* Pic of my kit:

Hmm,well you could always try this.

To reset the display settings of the Xbox 360 console to the default settings, follow these steps:1. Remove any discs from the disc tray.
    2. Turn the console off.
    3. Turn the console on.

Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn the console on by using the Xbox Guide button on the controller.

Note Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller is the controller where the upper-left quadrant light is on.
    4. As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time. This causes the Xbox Dashboard to reset the display settings to the default settings and then automatically restarts the console. So it's OK when the Xbox 360 console restarts.

That's not working either (the 360 won't restart using that method above). I CAN however, hold teh guide button down, press up twice and press A turning the power off to the devkit still. I can't see this, but it's physically happening to the machine...

What type of video output are you using? HDMI or the normal 360 thing?

Component. I'll try an HDMI cable on my brothers HDTV tomorrow to see if that'll make a difference. But the component cable itself is fine as it's working on my retail 360 fine.

I remember something like this happening to a friend of mine after running a recovery. Try taking a screenshot in neighborhood to make see if the kit's actually powering on correctly.

    Well, well, well...

That has produced an image in neighborhood showing the new XDK revision and it asking for a new name for my console.

So why the FUCK can't I see it on my capture card when my retail 360 shows fine with the same cable!?

Anyone know why I'm simply not getting any sort of picture?

I don't know, but I'd try to navigate your way to the video settings using screenshots in neighborhood and mess with the settings until you can get it to show up on you capture card.

You may have a PAL setting. Do the following.
As gabe said go through using the pics. Also try booting your console holding A. If that doesn't work go into menu press X and then go to video settings and view what they are from the Launcher change them to english.

I FUCKING LOVE YOU GUYS!!! *wub*

It was simply because my capture card doesn't take 480p and it had reset itself to that very setting!

I navigated my way to 720p using your method and I'm back up and running!

Seriously, many, many thanks for all your help. I seriously thought I had a £1,200 paperweight!
