For those of us that don't know, what would make it complete? Did they come with some sort of insert?

What would make it complete is a back insert, a front insert and a poster who actually knows how to follow the marketplace rules instead of trying to put something up for auction.

If you want to sell it, sell it.

If you want to eBay it, take it to eBay.

I would rather have it go to somebody on here or DP or the like rather then on Ebay, but if theres no interest here then I will put it up on to ebay.. If you want me to post a price, I would have to say 100 firm

The rules state you have to either state a price or get approval from ASSEMbler himself to accept offers.

And that said, $100 is a fine price for a Red Saturn System Disc.

You'll likely sell in no time at that rate. :)

For those that were wondering what it was, the Saturn System Disc allows you to play CD-R copies of games in a stock retail Saturn. The more common Black disc works with third party titles, while the rarer Red disc works with first party titles.

Ok, just to get this straight in my head. You'd stick the disc in a retail saturn, it would tell the system a cdr was on the way, you take it out, stick the cdr in, and play away? Is that right? Does the red disc only do 1st party cdrs? Is it region specific or region free? (I should really use the search button shouldn't I)

I can't say for sure because the ISO I obtained of a system disc wasn't very clear which it was. But after loading it, until you power down it simply seems to skip reading the outter ring security thing. If you just wanna play CD-Rs to play CD-Rs, you might as well do the swap trick or install a modchip. I think having a system disc is overkill if you just want to casually use CD-Rs. It's more of a collectors item really.

Yes - Just boot up a retail saturn with a system disc. The screen says "COMPLETE". Now you can load games from CD-Rs until you power down the system. Just press reset if you need to reboot and it will still accept CD-Rs.
Yes - The red disc KD01 is for titles published by SEGA. The back disc KD02 is for everything else.
The system discs are region free, but the games on CD-R have to match the region of your system.

Q: Except for completing your collection, why would you want a system disc when you can use the "swap trick" or install a modchip to play CD-Rs?
A: For a developer Saturn to accept CD-emulators (connected using SCSI) you need to disable the media check.

    Cheers!

I don't mean to thread crap, but since we're getting into Saturn System Discs and more people would probably look here, would anyone happen to know what the Blue version was used for?

There are two versions of the system discs. One set it marked COLUMBIA. Another set it marked JVC. They work the same way.

The red KD01 disc in this thead is marked COLUMBIA. My red KD01 disc is marked JVC :)

The black KD02 disc in the thread below is marked JVC. My black KD02 disc is marked COLUMBIA :)

FWIW, I wouldn't bother offering less than the asking price on this one. The seller could easily get more than $100 for this disc on eBay if he was so inclined.

Huh? 100 Euro is more than $100 (roughly $127). The real question is would $27 cover shipping and insurance.

It comes from Ebay. Not sure what the point is of buying it and selling it a week later but he got an excellent deal on it..

$120 is the max for me.
