Has anyone found any info regarding this game? I found some gameplay footage and some assets from Unseen 64. It was a sequel to a game called Redline (I've never heard or seen footage of that.) and was the basis for a game called Motor Mayhem. http://www.unseen64.net/2009/01/24/redline-arena-dreamcast-cancelled/
I was researching this a few years ago. I believe my findings at the time were that a proof of concept small PC demo was created, the game was not finished for PC or DC, and there was no indication anything was ever coded or ported for demonstration on the DC.
You can download the Demo here and read, what happened. http://www.neil.melville.ws/Projects/vg/redline2.asp
Tried it and it plays well , would have been a great addition to the dreamcast. What I dont get is that it was cancelled for the dreamcast due to the online need a complete overhaul? But the ps2 version didnt even have online, what was the poiint?
Probably because the PS2 was an obvious hit and it would be until the end so screw the MP, unless that the DC version was dropped after sega announcing that would no longer manufacture it, you could also question why they wanted to focus on console only rather than release on both platforms (PC and DC). Wasn't Tony Hawk 3 the first PS2 game with an online mode? It was even released before the Network Adapter came out, maybe Motor Mayhem was planned to have an online mode. Off-topic: What is the name of this character on your avatar?
You can contact Neil Melville via his website and ask. Perhaps you get an answer. Sad he is notthe license holder, then it would be possible to ask for more.
