will a 8GB one be very laggy? I wanted to get one but the shopkeeper says 'no one will get it,buy 2 4GB ones'.. Any take on that? I am using a 2GB one now.. wanna upgrade to a bigger capacity one. So is a 4GB one better or 8GB.. Thanks.
My official Sony 4GB card is so goddamn slow it's a joke, it even adds another 2-3 seconds to the boot time because it's reading from the card. I tried playing a demo with some FMV in it and it just stuttered terribly.
Well all I use my PSP for now is internet It's pretty sad. But I like the Radio it has it even though you need Wifi for it.
I use a Sony "High Speed" 2GB and a SanDisk Ultra II 4GB. The Sony 2GB is a hair faster than my 4GB but neither lag during game play of any kind or source. ~Krelian
That's it. I have a 4GB Sony, because it was cheap, very cheap (and no, it's not a bootleg). My cellphone takes about 4 minutes to be fully functional everytime i turn it on, since it loads everything from the memory stick, even if i didn't want it.
Good thing I read this, I just got a PSP and it has a 32MB in it. I was thinking of getting a 4GB, guess I'll get the Sandisk or just a 1GB or something.
So, the Sony branded sticks are inferior to the Sandisk ones (all)? or just specific Sandisk models offer better performance than the Sony ones? Btw, even the Sony branded MS are Sandisk inside
I'm running a genuine Sony 8GB MS pro duo, and I don't think it's any better or worse than the genuine 4GB one I was using before this. Dave.
I currently have a 2GB sandisk in my psp and found no diffrence between that the sony 32Mb that came with psp, the 1GB i originally bought and the 8GB sandisk i borrowed from my friends psp. i do prefer Sandisk memory stuff as i already have a 2GB ms-duo for my psp and 2 x 1GB ms-duo for my mobile as well as 2 x 4GB usb sticks for PC which are all sandisk and i've never had any problems speed issues or anything like that.
Yes, believe it or not. Sony released the high speed models to improve and be more competitive with the Sandisk ones, but some friends told me that even those aren't that fast.
I belive there is a bug with the latest Sony firmwares that effect any memory sticks at or above 4G resulting in slower access time than previously reported. Also, if your using an older firmware, you may not be able to access the full 8G on your stick, since older versions don't address the memory properly.
The new super expensive high speed Sony sticks won't work any faster with the PSP as it doesn't support them. They'll only work quicker with a compatible card reader.
