As you may or may not be aware I got myself a nice Q at the weekend

It is un-modified and I want to try and keep it this way.

Therefore it only plays Region 2 NTSC DVD`s

Does anyone know where I can purchase these as they are very few & far between in the UK.

Also would the bulk of them be in a foreign language?

Try the Hong Kong online shops like Yesasia. Hollywood movies (= English with on/off subtitles) released in Japan are pretty cheap in the local shops here. Japanese movies aren't. Also while buying from Hong Kong look at Codefree DVDs. Hong Kong versions are cheap and generally of good quality.

Edit: Nice item you got yourself there, by the way. :)

    Edit: Oh, see above :)

And otherwise get yourself an el cheapo dvd player, and use the Q for gaming/imports only. It's a lovely machine, but modding it for PAL DVD support is a bitch.

I usually buy my dvd's from hongkong/chinese sellers on ebay, I usually buy asian movies but they sell hollywood crap as well and most with subtitles and dirt cheap!

Europe is Region 2, but not NTSC. Japan is the only country I think that is both region 2 and NTSC.

Cez makes it sound like the HK shops also sell Japanese DVD's (Hollywood releases), and that should work then.

Option 1: Watch music DVDs, they're often NTSC and Region 0.
Option 2: Rip your PAL DVDs, convert to PAL and burn.
Option 3: Most DVDs should have an English language track, even from Japan.

it's pure speculation but it seems many of PAL releases in Aust are not region coded.
I bought few titles when I went to Korea and all of 'em worked fine on the standard DVD player. Just to be sure the player itself isn't modified for region free I tried with DVD I bought in Japan on my way to Korea and the player refused to play those due to region difference...

    just wondering...

Those titles are all marked as R4 on their back and the DVD player back in Seoul is for Korean release only as it won't accept Japanese/US release...

Like I said it's pure speculation but seems number of titles are not coded from the factory?

BTW no issue about watching those PAL disc on NTSC TV...

[edit] Ok checked on wipipedia and it says Korea is RE3. And AU is RE4 though seeing UK is RE2 like Giel said could be RE4/RE2. Also Japan is RE2.
Still if the DVD were encoded shouldn't work on the standard unmoified RE3 player...
Maybe those were coded as RE0 which means flagged for all regions - R1/2/3/4/5/6 ~~ -__-a

You could buy normal PAL region DVDs, convert them using DVDshrink and then burn them onto DVD-Rs. I did this with my PAL Region 2 DVDs before moving to the USA. Now they are all multi-region without CSS encryption and I can play them on even $20 US DVD players without any problems.
