I see some speculation. I have seen some similarities between the demo found on my version 8 demo. I haven't played either much of the demo, the retail and this beta in a long time, but I can provide a dump of version 8 for comparison. I also have a version 9 demo which may or may not contain the same demo as version 8.

nensondubois: The disk image I compared this release to came from a Version 8 kiosk demo - the exact same image I had used in the thread at Jul I linked to in my first post in this thread -, and as I've posted above, the only difference is the "Welcome to the Metroid Prime Beta" text, which looks badly hacked in (overwritten letters with spaces instead of just nulling the string's end, the misplaced full stop).

Again, I'm not trying to allege any kind of scam or whatever, but the whole thing just doesn't look convincing to me.

I wouldn't mind seeing the version 9 demo dumped, you may want to contribute it to redump.org, just a suggestion

Should be a valid mirror eventually. It uploaded successfully but it says its temporarily unavailable.

Well, even if it was a scam none of us have actually lost anything except for maybe nensondubois if he paid money for the image.

Which it doesn't look like he did. No harm, no foul.

Yeah, the demo is still uploading and it will be in split 7 parts due to my account only being able to upload 200mb files at a time. Use 7zip or something to merge it into an .iso

Looking at the Metroid Prime game folder, it bears no resemblance to this Press-release that I uploaded. I don't know anything about Gamecube structuring so I can't be sure on how greatly it varies. Maybe someone with better minds than mine can look deeper into it to know for sure what varies between these three versions.

Here is the Version 9 demo. Really hope this wasn't released yet. I'm not going to distribute questionable digital copies anymore... no moar crap!

"Really sorry about this bs. Being a Metroid fan myself I'm thoroughly disappointed.

There is nothing more I can offer except some Gamecube Kiosk rips to make up for this incident. Check Assemblergames frequently."

All future releases will be direct from my copies, not from some dubious source like itsblah.

What's the earliest version of the Kiosk disc available then? I know of the US kiosk disc, the PAL kiosk disc, the US 0-00, 0-01, 0-02 retail releases, the Japanese release, the PAL (and players choice) releases and the Korean 0-30 release.

What other 'versions' of MP are known to exit!?!

Version 7 is the earliest NTSC demo disk containing a playable version of Metroid Prime. I have no ideas about the other regions, but I assume they follow a similar suit.

    ...

    Waker released that Prime beta.

    He says hi.

    EDIT:

    "Hi

This was originally released in Metroid Construction.

Whoever has it is in big trouble, especially for distributing it.

    Expect shit,
    Waker"

    Oh nose!

It doesn't even look like a real beta.

    Yes, I would say so.
& if it truly is in fact an official beta, then it is incredibly uninteresting to say the least.

    Yeah, it is.

It has a linker map file left over, though. I assume it's when they were testing the game.

...whyyyyyyyy would you. It's a kiosk demo. Of course, unless you knew that. If so, go right ahead.

iirc it should run on anything.
