Fantastic release! Out of curiosity, is this the version of the game with the bicycle?

Without wanting to sound unappreciative, a .gdi release would indeed be excellent for preservation purposes.

 

Anyone have an affirmative on if these are Japanese language only? I haven't had time to test it yet but can see me squandering good time in class swapping out a few assets to allow some English functionality.

 

Don't know yet, yet to test it out but if you find out, any chance you can point me in the direction of a tutorial to do this?

Really need to buy a Dreamcast again. Emulators suck.

 

Oh yes! Fantastic release! I can't wait till I get home to download this one. No 360 tonight, Dreamcast all the way :nod: This is one hell of a great release, especially for me since I've really explored the Shenmue world to death so it will be very interesting to see what's different.

Yes Dereck, the passport disc will be release soon I think, but not by me ( because I don't have the time to do the ripp, this disc is full of data ), but I'll send the full dumps ( it mean all the data of the beta but untouched ) to some people and I'm sure that the passport will be release soon by someone.

The passport is also in beta 0.300 and not 0.400 like the rest of the discs, it must come from an older version so we can say that it does not come from the same beta.

Don't know of any tutorials. I was going to compare the files from this release to the retail versions of the American and Japanese versions to see if there are any correlations that can safely be swapped.

Identifying what file does what is fairly straight forward for the most part.

 

Always had a feeling that Raylyd was gonna be bad news eventually :/

At least this is out there now. Hopefully someone puts up an article or something detailing differences, I remember seeing this mentioned before and always assumed it was just a translation beta.

 

Nice release!
The option to launch a specific area/scene might be usefull for translation projects.
I was doing a translation to portuguese, but was a pain to test every part of the game.
