I don't have any PATA HDD here. They're too old, and of course - There are very expensive. And for what? it seems to be running. and one thing on every system is: never touch a running system... XD
So am I to understand that XBlast now boots with acceptable timing now? Was the issue caused by cyberduck FTP client only?
Timings are not important for me. It depends on which HDD is installed (3,5" is a bit faster than a 2,5" with 5400rpm, i think it depends on the cache from the hdd). And Yes i think it was at this time a Cyberduck problem, because before i install my mac with the newer OSX, i had a beta version of the app installed (i have look at a old TimeMachine Backup). But now it works and of Course it is a fantastic Bios. My Opinion was a Button Combo for switch to the menu and normally a direkt boot into xbmc or another Dashboard...... (it is only an idea XD)
. It's not possible to boot Xbox Executables (XBE) from cromwell. It would require to integrate copyrighted code from Xbox kernel source into Cromwell sources and that would be illegal. The only way to get out of cromwell is to either load a Linux Kernel or reboot the console.
I can help with this SATA adapter speculation. I have used 3 adapters now, and 3 different drives with many different BIOS. BIOS with config on HDD usually wait long enough for slower adapters to succeed in boot. I believe it is to do with the boot parameters being referenced once HDD is ready. For on-chip configuration, the HDD is not needed to attempt boot. Things that I have been able to get HDD+adapter initialized with: - configuration of BIOS with file on HDD - use 80 wire cables, most adapters need these to function properly - BIOS settings shouldn't skip boot animation or x logo screens. Use the options that increase overall boot time to buy some seconds for ide to initialize. - Get a better adapter. My strategy so far has been to choose one with master/slave/cable select jumpers if possible. Some aren't clear about these things. I have an x3 now, ready to test it out on my new setup. I will return with anything I find noteworthy.
