can someone ponit me into the right direction please reliable laser pickup sellers anywhere seems to me everywhere i buy a laser allways seems dud never work sf-c93 spu-3200 soh-r48g sf-hd67 kss-210a whats up with the world of working or testing parts before shipment or in factory's.
I've never had any issues with Liberty Electronics, but I've never had an issue with buying KSS-210A units from a mob in the UK either. You're getting rid of the solder bridge on the units right? If yes, how many duds are we talking?!!?
Only recently its started i had 2 jvc optima 5j for model one mega cd from Liberty Electronics one worked the other did not so i send the dud one back they looked used but i dont mind i just wanted them to work. Spu-3200 i bourght 2 from china ebay seller never got a refund so lost out on $50 Other hk website prx-550 and r48g was a dud spu-3200 worked when it wanted to. I am not giveing up to find new dreamcast lasers And as for sf-c93 for sega cdx and multi mega i ordered from a guy in the uk where they always worked and now he send a replacement never worked waiting on a reply for a refund. If only i could manufacture a laser pickups my self make working new laser that worked first time every time. I know sanyo saturn lasers you cant replace them so once all the lasers are dead that the end unless someone make's a ide or sata board so we could use a nomal pc drive would be good for all dieing cd based consoles. As for kss-210a most of the time they work i just get a one or two dud units or they dont load very good. I have wasted so much on dud lasers and returning stuff that was dud anyway i know about the antistatic points. If anyone could ponit me to a place where to buy working Dreamcast spu-3200 r48g sega cdx sf-c93 10pin sega mega cd model 2 kss-210a Thanks.
Maybe he sent you out one of the Optima 5 lasers I got lol! I got one (same Mega CD) and it had scratches on the top plate of the laser, it didn't work. I sent it back and the replacement didn't work either, I got a partial refund (and still have that dud laser). I saw no solder blob on it, not unlike when you get a JVC Optima 6 or samsung SOH90-T4N (for Sega CD2's). I had rotten luck as well with Chinese sellers and (older) lasers and then I got onto Liberty electronics (via ebay). Had good luck with them up until the Optima 5 laser. I had purchased at least 4 Optima 6's and 2 Samsung SOH90-T4N's prior to this with no issue. What was strange though was I actually asked if they had/could get the Optima 5 and they said "no", a week later they had them in stock (and were nice enough to email me). What I have been doing is go around the charity stores and look at the cd players to try my luck with that. I did find a CD player with a Sony KSS210 but had no need for it.
I know uk seller charles hyde and son but asks a lot of cash for parts i will try them. http://www.chsinteractive.co.uk/ my uncle used to work for fault finders in the uk.
I just got lucky and bought a NOS Optima5 for around $50AU. There was one on ebay (Canada) for $64AU, I just was sorting out my watch list and stumbled across it 50% off! Lets hope it works, my boy will be happy (but being 1 yr old atm he is probably happy anyway).
