How can you tell? You see more guys that look like girls and more girls that look like girls nowadays and on the rare occasion people who you have no clue what their gender is, more now than ever before!!

Add that to the fact that the article refers to her in the feminine pronouns.

And the fact that while names like Lee, Ashley, Kasey/Casey, Kelly, and a whole score of other names worldwide can be ambiguous in their gender, I have yet to meet or hear of a male Laura.

I'm really surprised that they didn't pick a kid, the more I think about it.

Was that the same pic you sent them? Because...

 

Lucas had a contest like this for star wars and the exact same thing happened. Someone with very little stuff won the big prize. I think companies do stuff like this to gauge what customers are buying or something with market research because the winners are never even close to being competive in regards to thier collection size or diversity. This contests are almost guaranteed to have loser with a weak collection take the award. I always suspect foul play when I follow up on the results.
