Hi. I have been trying to maybe an hour now, to get my Windows 7 computer to connect to a Windows XP (SP2) laptop over wireless.

I can do 'Remote Assistance' perfectly fine. However, when ever I try to remote desktop, it just gives me an error.

I can even connect to the 'Shared' folder, so I can access the machine from my network. Domains are the same... bla bla bla it is all setup fine!

I just do not get it. Windows is so retarded.

I try to connect by the computer name, as well as IP.

This is over LAN. Not via the Internet.

Firewall is [OFF] on the laptop.

    Any suggestions?

Do you have Allow incoming connections actually turned on?

You have 2 options in remote options - allow remote assistance requests and allow remote desktop connections.

All I see on the laptop under computer properties, is "Allow Remote Assistance". I have it enabled.

No such option as "Allow Remote Desktop"...

no mate, the Remote Desktop app is usually always installed anyway but doesn't mean its enabled.

is the network set to use a different port for RPD? its normally 3389
