Hi. I have been trying to maybe an hour now, to get my Windows 7 computer to connect to a Windows XP (SP2) laptop over wireless. I can do 'Remote Assistance' perfectly fine. However, when ever I try to remote desktop, it just gives me an error. I can even connect to the 'Shared' folder, so I can access the machine from my network. Domains are the same... bla bla bla it is all setup fine! I just do not get it. Windows is so retarded. I try to connect by the computer name, as well as IP. This is over LAN. Not via the Internet. Firewall is [OFF] on the laptop. Any suggestions?
Do you have Allow incoming connections actually turned on? You have 2 options in remote options - allow remote assistance requests and allow remote desktop connections.
All I see on the laptop under computer properties, is "Allow Remote Assistance". I have it enabled. No such option as "Allow Remote Desktop"...
No idea  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/284931 No such option for me @'Internet Information Services'...............
no mate, the Remote Desktop app is usually always installed anyway but doesn't mean its enabled. is the network set to use a different port for RPD? its normally 3389
Yes. Edit: Being more helpful, here is a hack to enable it: http://www.mydigitallife.info/install-and-enable-remote-desktop-in-windows-xp-home-edition/
