I have the Original Xbox which was modded with a xecuter2 mod chip. I am looking for assistance to return the original dashboard (although this would never be played xbox live) to working condition. This particular modchip comes with 4 banks plus an enable/disable switch. When I use this switch, it gives an error screen with the number 05 indicating the xbox requires servicing. However, the modchip is working just fine. I am able to ftp into the console without any problems. Any ideas?
In theory you should be able to just pull the chip out Unless the console has had the hdd replaced or there is something wrong with the EEPROM. if you are not going to use the chip, I'll take it off your hands error 05 is kernel error HDD not locked. So you are going to need to dump the EEPROM and extract the hdd key, you can buy pre made cables to do so on eBay for about $10ish.. you will need a PC with a serial port iirc and probably no newer than XP. hope this helps. edit: re read your post, if you can use the console with the chip than you can dump the hdd key using evox or a handful of other tools. you will still need a PC with an IDE port free and a copy of xbox HDM to flash the .bin file to the hdd (locking the disk with the correct key). also this hdd probably won't have the MS DASH files on there, iirc you can build a new disk using xbox HDM.
Oh I forgot to mention that! It does have a new replaced hard drive. Does that change your recommendations? edit: I believe I might have the original hard drive..
I would just like to say that if you do get rid of the mod and have no use for the bank switch, I would love to give you some money for it
Why the hell would you want to revert it to stock? If you have the original drive you can get it back to stock but unless you have a lockable drive and the know how to lock it with the correct key you won't be getting anywhere.
