I just received a Core Grafx II which has been spray painted white (bad job!) and I want to remove it, I want to use something that is easily accessible and that won't damage the plastic.
I have read recommendations of using brake fluid and others that have used oven cleaner foam sprays with (apparently) good results, but does anyone have any experience of this?
I know certain chemicals will melt this type of plastic, so can anyone confirm that these are safe to use or recommend any that are better.

I play Warhammer 40k and when I purchased old models to strip them I would soak in simple green. You'd soak for 24 hours then use a toothbrush to scrub off the paint, rinse and repeat as needed. Now those are highly detailed models and a different type of plastic.. I think the same would work here but you might just have to do some fine grit sanding to pull it off then re-prime and paint as you want. I don't think you are going to be able to get back to original state either way.

big thing is do not use acetone it will eat the plastic. As far as the brake fluid I've heard of people using this for other purposes but as I understand it is really corrosive and I personally wouldn't want to use that on plastic. One of the magic erasers might substitute but that will be a lot of scrubbing.

I used isopropanol and an old toothbrush. I found that the person who desecrated the console also decided to sand the surface of the upper half so it looks a bit of a mess underneath the thick paint.
I managed to get most of the paint off apart from in cracks and crevasses etc.
    What is simple green?

    Sounds like weed! lol

You're not going to get it back to "as new" again. You'd really need to know what kind of paint was used, and whether it was primed. There's likely a reason it was painted in the first place, too!

Simple green is an all purpose cleaner, I see your location listed as UK I think the equivalent for you guys is Dettol per the link I found here http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/88033-uk-simple-green-equivalent/

I never expected it to be as new, I just wanted the paint removed as it felt slightly tacky still and I don't want my hucards cover in white spray paint.
