If you are in the USA, contact APE. He install the BIOS chips and should be able to help you out.

It could be some time, I'm in line myself. He's busy with who knows how many other jobs not my business to ask about.

Oh? From our recent conversations I was under the impression he had no backlog currently. At least for the Saturn he doesn't.

I dunno. I'm not going to pry into how many customers he's got. We pushed back Saturn work until after Gamecube is finished.
To save the long story, there was a major setback in that my GC had a problem he couldn't figure out last time. So it's going back for more extensive work later.

That expensive case of yours makes me cringe thinking about putting holes in it for a region switch and coax out for SPIDF.

I have a small backlog starting to creep up as it seems everyone wants to get stuff modded for the new year. Have a SegaCD+Genesis to recap, overclock and region mod as well as two Saturns to work on, a Dreamcast, and some more in mid January. Anyone wants anything done before Valentine's day would do best to hit me up now.

As for op's Dreamcast, I pray he didn't ram the screws for the controller ports into the mobo.

Don't worry, region switch is already installed. There was space on the right side.
I'd look into using that LPT hole. Massive DB25 opening ripe for some use. Currently has a USB port dangling out the back to deal with.

    Those wires are so thick...

I can look at the boards for you and let you know cost to repair.

My usual fee for fitting the bios is £10 + return postage. However, depending on the damage - they might cost a little more or might not be repairable at all.

But no charge to look and let you know the price.

You have a dreamcast to test it replacing the motherboard? I'm thinking about it, because i can´t repair the consoles!

Ps: could you make me a discount for having bought to you the chips in the past hehe :rolleyes-new:

£10 is cheap already. When I do the install, the chip cost is on top anyway - so someone buying a chip or someone buying an install still pay for the chip.

    I only need the motherboards

One of the motherboards is a replacement of the bios and worked fine before installation, and the other had the flash corrupted but i read that with bios mod could be fixed with dreamshell.

While i buy a cheap dreamcast (8 €) to play but im still thinking about send the motherboards, but i already payed the chips and i wanted a better solution more cheaper, but in my country is a bit difficult hehehe

But it's always good to know alternatives.

if I'm interested I send you a pm?

PS: weight of a dreamcast motherboard ?

Weigh it on your kitchen scales, or go to the Post Office or grocer's!

£10 is cheap - a lot of repair places wouldn't touch a messed up mod as it's often a lot of hassle, so I'd say that's certainly a fair price.

Yeah it's too bad traditional modchips are hard to find. They're more convenient for us who don't care about the BIOS version.

Thing is he's in the us. It would faster and easier (cheaper) to let bad_ad84 handle it as OP is located in spain.

I recently fitted the region free bios inside my PAL Sega Dreamcast VA1 (Removed the whole chip). It boots the logo spins the disk but after that the screen goes black. If i open the lid i see the logo and get to the dashboard. (It worked fine before i replaced the chip)

The problem is that the system runs about 10 -15 seconds before it goes to black screen.

I mounted the region free bios 99% similar to my other motherboard (VA1) and it works perfect.
