I have an original Xbox that has UnleashX installed. Long ago I accidently bricked it and never got around to repairing it. Basically, I entered the UnleashX debug menu and set it to boot a certain file at startup. Sadly, that file did not exist and now after the xbox boots, a black screen and I cannot do anything to revert it. Any possible way to recover the system without having to go through the annoying hotswap procedure again? Like... possibly a reinstall disc that can be booted on Xbox startup? Or do I need to completely do a hotswap again?
First of all, not bricked. Secondly, what mod do you have? Softmod or Modchip? Depending on your mod, and what's damaged... You can try and boot with Slayer's Rescue disc or AID and start from scratch.
Thanks for the speedy reply. It is softmodded, originally done with the hotswap method. It should not be damaged. All files should be present, its just that I made it boot to an invalid file so it can no longer load into UnleashX.
So I take it that, when you boot to the black screen the softmod LED happens? Turns orange? If so, you can still boot a DVD, so AID will help you sort out your issues.
Sorry if this sounds like a noobish question, but I am going to burn the disc, but since I only have ONE disc right now, I want to make sure I do it properly or else I'll be SOL until I can get more. What tool should I use to burn the disc?
Ok, burned. Disc spins up and stays spinning. Sadly nothing happens. Here is a video I recorded: Xbox logo shows, and right after, just a black screen. Disc won't even load (Even though it is loudly spinning as If it is trying too).
Only option I guess, when you're up and running. Run AID and setup softmod with ShadowC, so you don't mess it up again.
Thanks for the help everyone, but I am simply going to buy a used modded one I seen from Craigslist. I will be able to get it for $15 with everything. I figure that I can just buy an already modded one for the same price as it would take to get a mod chip... so this is just quicker and easier.
