Got a Skeleton Saturn today (the see-thru Japanese console).

It powers on and the Saturn menu comes up, but it wont't load a game (CD drive doesn't spin).

Would I be able to replace the drive with one from a PAL model 2 console? and could I also swap the Psu for one from a PAL machine? (so I wouldn't need to use a stepdown convertor).

iif the pin outs match on the PSU then yes you can swap a pal one in

as for the drive there are different models im not sure about compatability, but hell, swap it in and if it fits and works then all is well, if it doesnt nothings going to blow up

although i assume no responsibility for this comment lol. others on here are alot more saturn experienced.

psu swap will work - long as its the same size (there are long and short saturn psu's) there is an extra pin on the pal psu which the ntsc motherboard wont use - this is just for scart auto switching and just means you will manually need to change channel.

drive - get a matching one and it will be fine. region doesnt matter
