Repairing an old Laptop

    Finally someone got around to this component.

    IF the memory passed Memtest then it is fine.

    Take the HDD out to see who the manufacturer is and then go to their website and download their diagnostic. Put it on a floppy or bootable CD and run the diagnostics. It looks like it is your HDD. Lots of Acer laptops do this.

    Its a 8O gig Toshiba drive, cant find anything on there site. Swaped it with a 30 gig version and its running ok only thing is its about four years old...

    As for the old disk well I just bought a new screwdriver set... The platters look all nice and shiney :lol:

    Now thats my lappy fixed I can get on with project Tool.

    Oh yeh. Toshiba is the only manufacturer that does not have a diagnostic. One time I called them and they said they don't have any for download.
