I bought a dreamcast last december and it arrived with broken video. i haven't been able to get in contact with the seller, so i want to know a few things:

    1. Is their any alternative to the Dreamcast Standard AV cables?

    2. Is fixing the video hard to do? i've never repaired a console, but i'm fairly efficient with PC's

    3. should i just buy another console?

    thank in advance

The dreamcast is a pretty easy console to open and take apart. Have you tried different av cables or cleaning the AV port? That could be the problem. I've never had a dreamcast that had AV problems before, it could be something else. Definitely try fixing it though, it may have just gotten knocked around in shipping and some connection inside came loose. If you're experienced with pcs dissassembling a dreamcast should not be an issue for you.

Dreamcast outputs composite, s-video, SCART, and VGA.

The first two are largely universal. The latter two need supported games.
