Hi there, Recently I found some cheap games for the Nes and went ahead and bought them. When I got home and went to test them, my Nes Clone (my first console ever. 1993) didn't turn on. The console is exactly like this one: http://www.pelikonepeijoonit.net/images/1274688993.jpg I tried several AC adaptors but the no sign of life. The only thing I noticed was a buzzing sound, resembling a short circuit or something. To prevent any harm to the console I just gave up and stored it away. Since the console has high sentimental value and I don't want to spend any money on a new one (clone or not), I'm turning to you to get some help on how to repair it. Thanks in advance
I have a limitation in doing that...I don't know the first thing about electronics :/ How do I know if the joints are dry or shorting?
they'll look cracked, and the componenets may be loose, you'll be able to spot the burning easy enough if there's any. google "dry solder joint" and you'll get a load of images of what your looking for. but yeah as said also check the fuse if there is one
My father-in-law is taking a look at it since he knows his way around electronics and found out that the power connector is somewhat burned. It also has a metal case that is deformed with the burn. He is trying to fix it but it doesn't look good. I don't remember the look of the box, but I know it was called Nagai. (Se tiveres dicas de conserto agradeço lol)
If you post pictures of the inside of the unit I can try to help. Also you will need at least a multimeter (ohm meter, voltmeter, continuity tester) for testing/looking for faults. Vou tentar ajudar...
OP said: "Since the console has high sentimental value and I don't want to spend any money on a new one (clone or not), I'm turning to you to get some help on how to repair it." So I don't think the OP want to consider that option yet.
