Hello, I was wondering if there is anything comfortable I could use as a replacement for the thumbstick on my Sega Master System controller. My controller did not come with a thumbstick (I got it used), and the stick just makes it so much more comfortable to me. It seems to just be a screw-in type thing, so is there anything else that would fit?

Gravis made a couple of gamepads with screw in sticks, I've found them frequently at Value Village and yard sales, I owned one of the PS1 knock off looking USB pads for a long time, it was great for SNES emulation:

Not meaning to derail the topic, but while at it does anybody know a good replacement for the whole d-pad button? the odd square shape fitting inside makes it difficult to find a compatible one.

While it might not be exactly what you want, the Mega Drive six button pad works fine with the SMS ;)

You could easily make your own. Find a set screw that fits or use a thread gauge to measure the correct threading. If you can't find a set screw, you can use a regular screw with a head - cut the head off.

A machine shop or local mechanic may be able to help you with measuring the thread and let you know what screw you would need if you can't find one that fits.

Pick a thumbstick.... PS2/PS3 or XBOX; drill the width of the screw on the underside of the thumbstick and cut the screw to the length that you want and use an epoxy to glue the screw and thumbstick together.

    Not OEM, but functional.
