Replacement laser for Duo-R

Is it possible to find reliable replacement lasers for the PC-Engine Duo-R?

A friend of mine bought one from a Japanese ebay-seller some years ago, it was RGB modded and came with a brand new installed laser. Unfortunately the laser seems to have already died, and he really hasn't used the system much in the time he had it.

He has only played original games on it, if that has any influence in the life of a laser unit.

I'm hoping someone can reply with information within the next few days, because I'll be visiting friends near where he lives. If there's proper replacements available, I'll bring his console home with me to have a look at for him.

Thank you for your reply. Is this something I could just as well get on ebay, or should I avoid that and find a more respectable seller of these? Any brand I should be aware of?

 

Ebay should be fine. I bought one from Aliexpress last year for around £10 with free shipping and it works perfectly. You may need to adjust the variable resistors though.
