    Hey,

just today I got a new AGS-101 screen in the mail. Wanted to pop it in my AGS-001. Did that, tried powering it on, and only sound works. Are there any differences between the screens that make the AGS-101 screen need more power? Or did I just get a faulty unit? It looks brand new, ribbon cable intact, screen protector sticker was still on. Any ideas what could've gone wrong?

yeah, some people say they are different, and some say, that they managed to get their 001's working with 101 screens. You got any reliable source ASSEMbler? Know which pins are mixed up?

They use the same battery packs, so the power output shouldn't be any different.

I would suggest a good place to start would be finding the pinout for both screens and figuring out what you are going to have to alter on the connector. Obviously the 001 screen has no backligt, so its connector will not have contacts for that, you will have to locate the power for the front light LED on the 001 board, figure out if it's the right voltage and then find a way of giving power to the 101 screen backlight.

I've never heard of anyone successfully doing this BTW, just something to think about before you put too much time in.

Where did you get the new 101 screen, they are very expensive on eBay.

The thing is, it's not just the backlight. The screen doesn't turn on. Nothing on it!

nope, not really :) I know all about the mod kits etc. Pinout information is scarce. My only option is for the seller to refund my money while I send him back my screen. I suppose.

It has been done but requires custom wiring.

I'm good with a soldering iron, just can't find any info regarding the custom wiring. I'd give it a shot. Got the info?

Hey, I was recently looking up reviews for the AGS-101 to AGB-001 backlight mod and found a thread that discusses pretty much all aspects concerning the AGS-101 screen, including guys that wired it for the AGS-001:

    http://gbatemp.net/threads/gba-backlight-agb-001.328487/

    Hope this helps.

I've been through the whole thread 2 times. People only ask questions there regarding the mod, some people give the pinouts and claim that the AGS-101 and 001 are compatible. And some say it needs modding. ASSEMbler, you got any sure info?
