    Hi folks,

I'm entirely sure if it's proper part of the forum (I'm lurking around for a while now however it's my 1st post here!)
Long story short - I recently get two DTL-T10000 units (H & H S) to my Tools collection from electronics disposal company, however both units had their HDD's removed. So basically mine units doesn't want to boot at all. I've got black screen on both AV and VGA output when I turn them on. I'd like to put ATA HDD's there and make it usable. And the question is - is there any PS2 Tool installation media around I could download to install on HDD ? ;-) I suppose no... So is there someone who would be so kind and share me a dd image of his drives ? Also I found in other thread that HDD-1 make no use - do I have to install it ?

    Thanks,
    Soul

You don't need HDD-1 as it is connected to the AIF (which is not used).

Is there anything special about the DTL-T10000H S? I believe that the latter letter is the region for certain special PS2s, but I have never seen a 'S' region before.

Thanks for fast answer ! I'll take a look at internals as soon as I come back to home as now I'm somewhere miles away until Friday. And it make sense that the last letter is for region. I might not remember correctly and it might be H A for america rather than H S (however I'm pretty sure that one unit have just H without second "region" letter). I'm sitting on client site and studying assemblergames threads about it.

    Cheers,
    Soul

    I see.

Oh yeah, you might want to check your TOOL units first before determining whether you need the 2nd HDD or not. Some of them have the DTL-T14000 DVD Emulator board installed, which uses the 2nd HDD for storing games.
Otherwise, it will only have 1 PCI card installed.

You could still go without it, even if the TOOL does have the T14000. The DVD Emulator simply wouldn't be of any use.

Right. Thanks for the hint sp193!

Does DTL-T14000 Emulator board occupies standard PCI slot at the back of the Tool ? One of the unit have additional card inserted - I can spot it on the back.

BTW. Does anyone have HDD image to share ?
    Cheers

If you have the Pentium 233 variant, you can use unclejun's image: http://assemblergames.com/l/threads...d-how-to-install-ps2-linux.48417/#post-707887

    Otherwise:

If nobody can give you a better image, you can have mine if your TOOL units are the variants with the Celeron 566.
I messed with the password (i.e. I reset the root password) when I first got mine, not realizing that nobody was meant to log into the TOOL itself. :/
And for reasons, I did that before I duplicated the disks. @_@

Some folks like unclejun wrote that the 2nd disk contains a clean installation of Linux (that is also used on the first disk), so technically I would be able to get a clean (and up-to-date?) installation by writing the 2nd disk's image to my first disk... but I don't know if that is really true or not. Especially because the developers could download updates from the SCE network.

Yes, it does. So one of your units probably has the T14000 installed.

I'm pretty sure that at least one of the unit (with T14000 card) runs celeron as I managed to disassemble this one during weekend. It would be nice to have dump for this one - even with non default password (however it would be nice to get default shadow hash and crack it). I've ordered two HDD's today so it would be nice to get the dump before Friday. Is there any chance you can host gzipped file somewhere or you want me to provide host for that ? PM ?

To return to community I can share my DECR-1000A images as soon as I get back home. Currently I can only play with my portable lab at hotel :)

If you desire it, I can upload it somewhere (i.e. mediafire) and send you a link via PM. I will be out for today, but should be able to get it done tonight.

If you can help me to get the default password back, that would also be great. But it's not a very important thing.

I bought it from Yahoo Auctions Japan in 2013. This SCPH-15000 was manufactured by S KOHDA.
Usually, they don't have warranty stickers, so I guess that this might have been part of a late batch.

    Nice one ;-)

If you can upload it to mf and send me a link via PM that would be perfect. I'll see what can be done with the password as soon as I make my units working.

    Cheers,

I sent a link to the images in a PM, which you have received. All the best to you with restoring the functionality of your TOOLs.

BTW, be careful with the chassis of the TOOLs because they are totally made of (old) plastic.

@sp193 I am currently in the same situation and would be greatly appreciative of a PM with the images. Please and thanks!

Maybe I misunderstood the info in the thread, but it sounds like the HDD images vary between the Pentium and Celeron versions of the tool.
Is this correct? Does anyone have details of what's different?

I was only quoting what I saw unclejun ever mention, not that I really know what the differences actually are.
I think that he also stated that the version of Linux installed is different (RH 6.2 vs RH 5.2).
