    Hi Folks,

I'm on the hunt to see if anyone has actually acquired a scanned copy of the
"Nintendo 64 Disk Drive Programmer's Guide" in PDF format ?
or any of the other 64DD related Docs.... Specifically the manual shown here in the images below:

I realize that the info is pretty much available from the online HTML manual at the link below:
    http://n64devkit.square7.ch/index.htm

    However, call me picky...
I was hoping to find an actual scanned copy of the official manual in digital form, with all the authentic diagrams/graphics as the above NUS-06-0121-001D official manual has.

I have spoken to many people about this over the past few weeks, and all are very interested in acquiring a copy.... if I'm able to locate it. So I'm not the only one..... and there is interest.

I'm hoping someone might have the actual manual and be willing to scan it,
or perhaps already has such PDF's on file.... or any scanned 64DD official doc's for that matter.

    Any feedback is appreciated.
    Cheers! Folks,
    -Gerry

    No I didn't.
I just assumed he would want people to use his site.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

    Thanks for the tip.

Hmm I wasn't able to find anything either. You could fill out the software submission form link (http://n64devkit.square7.ch/info/submission/chcklist/01-01.html) but fill it with your question and mention you didn't see any other way to communicate with them directly.

Scratch that, I just realized its trying to be exactly like the manual and the only contacts and forms are Nintendo individuals that were listed way back in the day. I tried to do a WHOIS on the site but couldn't find anything because of the host has a different setup for their sites.

I'll let you know if I can find anything.

You could try contacting the hosting company and asking if they have any contact info for one of their sites. They may have an email on file they can give you. I'd explain why you want to get their contact info so they don't think you are trying to be sketchy. Here is the hosting site contact page link: http://www.square7.ch/?location=contact

this doesn't make sense at all.
they haven't "typed" this website, these are official nintendo html files, from some devkit CD or something.

As far as I can tell the manual is basically just a print out of the website. Formatted yes but you can tell the graphics and charts were really low resolution. Some of the appendixes in the actual manuals are almost unreadable with how they originally printed them.

I also sent a message to the owner of the website where I sourced the Photos of the manual cover
and the first few pages....shown in my initial post.

Hopefully he will be willing to help out the community and scan the binder to PDF.

However, I realize scanning a manual is a tedious and time consuming process.

    Anyhow,
Let's hope someone will come through for us all.

Hey Gerry, small world - I actually posted on your site a couple years ago regarding getting SICK LMS lasers up and running. Anyway, the site you referenced belongs to a member here: level42 who, coincidentally, is also located in Ontario

    Hey Joe,
    Your right small world...

Who would have thought that the topic of "Lidar Laser scanners" and the "Nintendo 64DD" would end up on the same thread!! LOL :))
Good to see you're still poking around!!

Yep, I actually posted on his site a couple of years ago as well - some of the dev equipment on his site is mine. Considering how rarely I post stuff on the net, that's a hell of a coincidence. Aside from forums, I think yours and his are the only sites I've posted on.

Reading through the comments on his site reveals that he's not interested in scanning one of the other books he has for fear of damage. Not sure if he feels the same way about the 64DD docs, but I'm inclined to think he would've already scanned and posted them if he were interested in doing so.

Well, I mentioned in my post to him:
With the fact that his 64DD Programmer's Guide are free pages inside a Binder,
I was hoping he would be more inclined to perform the scanning.

    I'm remaining optimistic!! :D

So I was trying to decide how much I would post in here. At one point I was going to tackle a big old project to scan a bunch of these. My thinking was that I really should have at least a 'backup' copy of some of these manuals. I actually started with the DD manual.

Originally I was going to sell 'reprints' of the manual to work as kind of a fundraiser to get back some of the cash on the small mountain of cash I spent on this stuff, but I got busy and had to put it a side.

So eventually I want to give this more time and release scans. When? Eventually.

What I was thinking of doing was operating it almost like a fundraiser. I sell a certain amount of manuals and then PDFs would be available for everyone. The thinking is that I recover a little bit of cash and don't have to worry as much about all the cash I sunk into the initial purchase. The other thing is that some of these manuals are bound and I'm not going to be able to scan them without paying a service to do it for me. Some of this doesn't apply any more since the DD manual is all loose leaf so I can scan it pretty easily and all the information is the same between the website linked before.

I'm mostly rambling and this point. I figured I would pipe up now since eventually someone would have noticed the manual in my pic again :)
