Requiring 'dibs' on an item in the market place forum in the thread...

I think his point is if yout buying the item then post in the thread "PMed to buy" so that he wont waste time pming the seller and finding out he last out to a pm before his.

Though its still not good practice as it can put others from pming a seller even though he might not want to sell to the first people that pm him for whatever reason or another.

To be honest this is pretty much nothing to be done about the whole thing.

 

Yeh. The issue is pretty much dead. It's just that on other forums, the buyer, if they claim 'dibs' on the item, has to come through with the deal unless the seller refuses to sell to them of course. Helps against deadbeats and keeps a record for the mods to keep track of buyers and sellers better.

 

I also want to add that I also realize that such a thing really wouldn't work as this is strictly gray market area. So discreteness is required.
