Why does the reset button the SNES bring me back to the Everdrive menu, where the reset button on the Megadrive just resets the game? Probably a stupid question.
You can configure this in SNES everdrive, it can operate the same way like SMD card. I assume that it has something with security program in Megadrive.
Yep, but I would like the MD Everdrive to operate the reset button like the Super Everdrive, but I guess that that is bot possible.
If you have a chance, I'd definitely like to have it possible for MD. I'd even spend the $ on the byte blaster for it. I love SNES auto-reset!
MD reset button only resets CPUs, not the whole system so by default, only the game got resetted. That's said, cartridge can detect the soft reset (!W_RESET input), remap the OS and trigger a system reset (!M_RESET output) If this is done, this should be made optional as a few MD games use the soft-reset button feature for special stuff (X-Men is one of them)
I bought X-Men for the Genesis when it came out, and I finally gave in and let my friend call their tip line about this because we couldn't figure this out. My friend told the game counselor (or whatever he was called) that the game was telling us to reset the computer, and the game counselor kept responding that my friend had just given the answer. Of course, this did nothing more than anger my friend, who felt the game counselor was screwing with him Finally, the counselor told him outright that the reset button on the Genesis itself had to be pressed. I was skeptical, but it worked, and we were finally able to play through the game. I wonder how many people thought they had a broken game since there was nothing they could do in game to progress past this part.
Reminds me of MGS for PSX when you have to put your controller into the second player port so the boss couldnt "read your mind"... i love how there were innovations back then that made you think outside the box...
Well, for the couple games that need the reset function, Krikzz just has to put an option to turn it off like the SNES cart. Like I said, I would definitely love to have the functionality, even if it means I have to get a JTAG cable and update the firmware.
by the way, in sms mode reset signal permanently in altive state, so no way to return by reset from sms. may be some other signal works as z80 reset also cd system v1 use reset for open deck
Well, like I said, I'd take it for the 99% of Genesis games and all 32X games that can use it as intended, if you had the time at some point in the future.
