Resetting Sega Dreamcast battery?

Hi, does anyone know how to reset the Dreamcast battery, besides opening the system up? Thank you.

 

Leave it unplugged for a few weeks... but I know of no software solution. Why would you want to do this anyway?

What level reset are we talking?
For date/time reset you can hold your four prime imputs ABXY while turning the console on without a game insterted and that should clear the internal memory.

I tried doing that, but it does not have any effect holding those buttons.

 

Hmmm...

After consulting Google another alleged means to do this is to insert the WebBrowser and plug a lone VMU-less controller into port two and power-on while holding B+X.

Does that not wipe the internal Flash memory? I don't think that's what you need?

yeah that works, heck thats even 'my' tutorial.... :smt043 It worked with all my GDR;s!

 

Or you can short the two metal clips which suspend the battery in place, alot quicker I find.
