Just want to check around what do you guys think of game related comics? Sometimes I find that the comic version of the particular game would have twists on the storyline and straying away from its original storyline, resulting in some very interesting creative storyline. Reason being is that I found a complete series of Biohazard 2 & 3 comics in my storeroom. While its only available in Chinese, its creative direction is simply amazing. Anyone care to share their thoughts on comic version of a particular game? =)
I have looked through water damaged copies of Street Fighter comics. Pretty insane stuff compared to Western notions of what a comic book should be. I think they ARE Capcom-licensed, since these HK comics are the very common ones released even here in the United States in Chinatown newstands, like Jademan Comics. However, they are a pretty niche market, and Capcom games don't get officially released in that area outside of the Arcade games. So the company's bottom line isn't affected by these kung fu comics. Now are they still being made? That's another story.
Yup, just want to mentioned that these comics are Capcom licensed, as seen at the top of right or left corner of the comic. I was seriously wondering if any Capcom have any form of restriction on the art direction on the hong kong comic series. (My guess is unlikely, as the comic circulation market is only in the Hongkong, Singapore, Taiwan and they perhaps have considered that its a "small domestic" market to have any major impact on the franchise)
just some pic before the entire sets goes back into the store room for the next 10 years~ =P Biohazard 2 1-60 complete Biohazard 3 1-9 complete Biohazard 3 Last escape 1-24 Complete
Hi, just wanted to add a pic of the copyright info found on the first page. This should clear all doubts. The comics were published in Hong Kong first, and later in Taiwan. From kyo86sg's pictures (I suppose you're from Singapore?), you can see the BH2 comics have a huge WARNING part on the front cover. This was added toward the end of the series, the first ~40 issues don't have it. Maybe they got complaints from parents who checked what the kids were reading.
Hi there, yes I am from Singapore. Just a update, after 15 years later I manage to find a complete set of Biohazard Code: Veronica in a old comic store! I am so complete now!
I saw a bunch of scans of these comics years ago and I tell ya. "HEY KIDS, WANNA BUY SOME DRUGS?" Code Veronica was the closest one to the game, but it also has it's nonsense moments
