Anyways this topic seems to be scattered in the RE4: wii edition topic so I thought I'd make a new topic.

Anyways, Now we got a trailler and a bunch of screens
and interviews what do you all think.

Personally at first I was on the line b/c I hated the spinoffs.
Though saying that Dead aim was definitely a step in the right direction. Maybe after countless screwups they have the formula down.

But reconsidering, I just feel capcom takes the main storyline waytoo seriously to screw up such a major event in the RE: Universe.

It also, seems they have put in quite alot of effort into this game and have been teasing it for well over a year now. Correct me if I'm wrong, but while they definitely had media coverage for the, spinoffs, I never really felt that they really "flaunted them" or did major interviews or anything.

ALSO, one key thing to note is that TOSE, was developer of the Gun Suvivor Series, for the most part. It seems that one of Capcoms main teams is handling this.

I think Gun Survivor when it was first being touted was given a lot of support but yeah they pretty much bailed on every subsequent one because no one really cared. The problem with the Gun Survivor games is that Resident Evil 4 has done almost the exact same thing but way better.

Though in relation to RE:UC it's good to see an exclusive Wii game that could turn out alright and the numchuck could finally make them playable games.

I think capcom will just really get a huge amount of negative media if this a really bad game.

The gun suvivor games sell abit b/c reviewers give them mediocre reviews. Heck Dead Aim got a really decent review from ign. Mainly because they did what they were made to be, that is, entries into a mediocre series of titles.

Remember, those games were hardly hyped at all as you said

But, take a game that has been flaunted and hyped and bragged about and those same reviewers will come down with an iron fist. Simply because of much higher expecations for the game.

Lets look a whats at stakes here for RE:UC

1.Capcom claims this will be the game to "Experience the downfall of Umbrella". Which is quite a huge part and legnedary part of the RE story

    2. The games first in-game footage was revealed "Nov 3, 06" along side the various other "killer apps for Wii".Meaning about a year of hype will have occured before the games release.

    3. Before recently it was assumed that this game would be a normal RE game, that was canon, but a prequel to RE4. Capcom didn't annouce that it was 1st person till 6 moths after its initial announced. Meaning It would be a slap in the face and a heartbeaker to Wii owners if this game was bad.

Bottom line is you don't tease fans with a game for a year before release if unless your sure it will turn out as a fairly good product.

If reviewers and consumers are expecting something and its not there it will be a critical failure.

Personally, I don't think the First Person format fits the Resident Evil all too well. Something about the Gun Survivor games had something missing... Just the general feeling of being a RE game. I just hope Capcom does a better job then TOSE did.

Yeah. You lose the horror aspect immediately when the guns are constantly in use. The "survival" aspect isn't far behind.
