I am guessing no one will know, but I am restoring a 3do devtower and the metal case is in bad shape. Anyone know the make / model of the case? I thought of having the shell bead blasted, then recoated.
pics? I don't have direct experience with 3DO hardware (especially rarer ones) but I have seen a fair few PC cases, including those dating to early to mid 90's.
Its a full tower but dont really know the make,i will check it out tomorrow if i can find any marks on it. Here is an old photo of mine:
Oh holy moly I am angry now. I actually had one of those back in 05. My father had found it sitting on a curb, and him knowing I was a computer geek brought it home so I could part it out. At the time, I personally thought it was a computer and remember that I found it humorous how tall the tower was. It was in near mint condition, just it did not power on because the board was dead. /Someone slap me.
OK. *slaps virtually* Does the casing of the tower is similar to a PC ATX case or it's unique? Maybe doing a little modding on a normal PC case could resolve?
Im pretty sure I have owned something identical (or extremely similar) and it was just a case I picked up for a machine. Nothing unique if I am correct.
Someone had posted a link, but for some reason I cannot see it here in the thread. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251501398523?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Very similar but not the same
I think I posted on the wrong thread http://www.assemblergames.com/forum...find-development-hardware&p=742615#post742615 . I guess I had too many tabs open and clicked the wrong one. I just searched 'AT computer case turbo' on ebay. I have seen cases like that a long long time ago. AT is 'advanced technology' while ATX is 'advanced technology extended'. ATX is what has been popular for the last 15 years. Wiki on AT cases: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT_(form_factor) That dev kit is using an 'IBM AT' style motherboard and case. I would think the same case is out there somewhere.
Yes. A different firmware than the normal PC drive but with the same hardware (same MCU, same DSP chip) with just a few GPIO pins connected differently to prevent one from swapping the ROM chip (was socketed and DIP lol). I remember modding a 2x MKE (CR-563) drive to repair a old Goldstar 3DO in 2006. (I had to perform serious modding on the drive the board and replace the drive firmware rom)
