I was wondering if anyone here knows a good place to have gamecube games resurfaced. I have master quest for gamecube, but the game is all scratched up, it plays but occasionally freezes which is a pain to me cause i cant play the master quest. Also im a where of emulation n the rom but i want to play it one a console.

In the netherlands (belgium aswell) we have gamemania. I believe they do resurfacing. An second hand game me and my lil sister got there was resurfaced for free i believe (they call it cleaning, but explained that it will replace the surface.)

normaly it will cost from 5 euro to up( depending on conditions, location, and amount of disks)

dont want to sidethread to much, resurfacing is considerd an ok thing to do for collector pieces? I have some badly scratched disks that need a new layer.

so, gamemania in nl,be i know.

They just grind away the first layer of the disc. This only works for surface scratches, not anything that's deep.

You might want to mention what country you're in - this is an international forum!

    15 Euros for a skim is a complete rip-off. It's £2-3 per disc here.

Decent video game shops (some indies and often big chains) will have a proper skimming machine, as should DVD rental stores.

basicly 5 euro for a damaged disk (thats still 2 to 3 euro's more than yours retro.

I wouldn't bother. GameCube games are harder to skim and it usually doesn't work. We tended to use scratched discs in the Wii - it was more forgiving, for some reason.

*EDIT* To answer the question on doing it on a valuable disc, that's your choice. Do you want a disc that's original, but scratched, or do you want a disc that's playable, but obviously has been skimmed? You WILL be able to tell.
