    Hi all,

Having switched off HDCP on my TEST PS3 I tried running promo code for Crysis 2 on it, but it looked to install a patch and then came up with an error message. Should error messages appear for retail game updates on a test kit? And shouldn't I be able to play a retail game on the retail PSN with the latest dev firmware?

Sorry for sounding like a bit of a n00b...

Retail packages don't install on a debugging station, that is correct, you need the debug updates.

And yes, you can play online if the debuggingstation runns the same FW as is enforced for retail consoles (3.61 at the moment), unless the game requires an update/patch, same as on retails, you get signed out if you don't install the game update.

Would a debug update work for retail code though?

As they are meant to patch/update retail games already sold yes.
